Caught in the act . . .

On several occasions, our new dog Rolie had grabbed packages of bagels, hot dog buns, chips, etc. off of the counter-tops. He would also grab baking pans or utensils if we left them out on the counter.

So, we resolved to put food into the cupboards, and not let dishes get stacked high enough for him to grab.

Unfortunately, we kept coming home to find empty/shredded bags of food by his bed. This always resulted in an argument about "who left the food out?!?!!?".

Yesterday, we went outside to switch cars around, and came right back in. . .and what did we find????

Note the open cupboard in the background. By the time I grabbed the camera, he had pull his head out and walked (across the stove) onto the island counter-top.

What a rascal!

Sterne Struck

OK, so I never post these days, shoot me.

My hands will have to endure some pain so that I can share with all of you how cool many of these German bands I've contacted re: my radio show have been.

One band, Grossstadtgeflüster e-mailed me back after I ordered their CD and after a few exchanges, they agreed to do a Station ID for me. Sweet, eh?

Then the band Zur Zeit - einfach frei responded to my request for the location of a merchant who sells their CDs to inform me that their first album has not yet been released. . .but they will be e-mailing me 2 or 3 songs in the next week. They also sent a separate list of some other German that bands they themselves find cool.

I've just come into contact with another couple of bands, too. Turns out, they like the idea of their music being played on American radio, even if it is just WBGU FM 88.1 FM in Bowling Green Ohio.

TICKS!!

We found 2 ticks on Rolie (the new dog you may have heard of) this evening. They appear to be Brown Dog Ticks (one was engorged, one not).
Based on this fact sheet, I guess I'll be spraying my house soon. . .

F.

I know, highly original post title.

My blog continues to get suckier. My hands do too. There is a correlation.

Well, just got back from Tom and Kristy's wedding. It was real nice. Call me for specifics. The only sucky part was me having a massive head cold and blowing my nose all weekend (except for the actual wedding and recpetion, during which I had taken pseudophed, cholr-something-antihistamine, and a high dose of Aleve------which all made my nose stop running and my headache go away buy I practically fell asleep before the cake was cut, and felt ratehr embarrased as I was the first to leave the reception).

Well, catchya later.

Nerve damage, charter schools, and pay raises

Well, on the positive side, the wife and I both got raises this week. Her for her master's degree, I for becoming a ,,Journeyman".

On the negative side (sadly, it is longer), my hands still hurt like hell, the conductivity test confirmed nerve damage, and I'll have to start physical therapy next week.

And does anybody remember how last year that Charter school at which my wife USED to work neglected to pay their insurance bill for 5 months before notifying us? Well, many more bills recently surfaced that had been "retroactively" denied by the insurance, and the school says that today is the last day they will accept claims----so if any more surface, say, next week, they expect us to pay them----- but it gets better. One bill we submitted last month was sent to us again on Tuesday showing a transaction history that included a BOUNCED CHECK (the [attempted] payment of the bill by the charter school). So the doctor still wants his $375 dollars from us.
I called the State Dept of Education and contacted somebody who is high up in the organization that sponsors (i.e., "allows the charter school to exist") the Alliance Academy and she says she is taking care of it...I sure hope she really does. I'm not in the mood to pay for court filing fees.

the face of misfortune frowns upon us

my grandmother is at the Cleveland clinic because she's been puking for 2 straight weeks, and they just found a mass on her pancreas.

Bouffer is at this moment undergoing surgery for an intestinal problem.

Max's tire blew out on the freeway near Oakland, so he ran to the previous exit and called the authorities....when he came back, his car was gone. Perhaps only in Oakland does somebody steal a car with a flat tire.

my hands hurt too bad to keep typing....and our property tax just shot up, making out mortgage increase by $87/month (over a 10% increase).

one day at a time, right?
