Well, I decided that the most cost effective way to see the whole 1st season of Doctor Who is to sign up for a 2 week free trial of netflix and the unlimited 1 at a time move service. The most I think I will end up spending is $9.99 before I have seen them all and cancel.
If I really like Netflix, maybe I'll keep it. Anybody have experience with Netflix?

Netflix is awesome. Try for a moment to put your frugality aside and make an invenstment in some entertainment in the form of a ho-jillion movies delivered to your door in 1, 2, 3, 4 + increments at a time.
No. Do not question it. Just get a netflix subscription and experience the majesty that is netflix.
I've never tried Netflix, but I can tell you that Dr. Who Season 1 is worth it. :0)
I've been a Netflix'er since 2003, but I've been lapsing lately in watching my movies. I think I've had one since March now that I haven't seen yet. But, I do like having the queue so I can just go to the site and add a movie the moment I think of it. I'm catching up on all the movies from my childhood that "everyone" has seen that I never saw because my parents didn't like movie theaters.
Ever since they opened a distribution center in Cleveland, I've been getting movies next-day. I'll mail one this morning, they'll have it tomorrow and send out the next one, and I'll have it by the next day. That beats the four-days-in, four-days-out it used to be back in aught-3.
