So, I'm working on re-designing a web-site for a certain local business.
The owner would like a section of the web-site where you can view pictures of the staff, have links to other local businesses, post "events", and post "editorials" (still not 100% sure what is meant by that). He also wants to be able to announce new products, and have his staff log on to add the new products/descriptions (i.e., not have it relayed through a webmaster).
So as I was thinking of the navigational nightmare this would cause, an idea hit me: a blog.
So, the question that I pose to all of you out there is this: "Would you find it any less (or more) professional to have those types of things on a Blogger(TM) blog that is linked to from the business' site? Have any better ideas?"

Ugh, every time I do a website, the clients want to update it themselves and think it's some incredibly simple process to do so. And instead of going through a web designer or company that already has such systems set up, they want to do it on the cheap and have me use FrontPage or Netscape Composer or some such so they can insert their cutesy clip art on their own (in WMF format, of course, so it's only viewable in IE). That's one reason I do very few websites anymore.
With the right template, I think a blog could look like something resembling professional. The Elyria newspaper just set up a blog so readers can comment, but it just seems thrown together and tacky. Maybe Tom will have some ideas.
If you're looking for a website that will have multiple users and needs to be easily updated, you probably want to go with a content management system like joomla, drupal, webgui, phpwebsite, etc. They're fairly easy to setup, easy for the non savvy to update, and there are a ton of free templates so that you can easily obtain a professional look. Many of them contain blog and list components, among other things, and most of them are free.
I've setup a few joomla sites and they've both worked out really well.
